Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art, combat sport and self-defense system that focuses on grappling, especially ground fighting, with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using joint locks and choke holds to force an opponent to submit.

It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend himself or herself against a bigger, stronger assailant by using proper technique and leverage, and most notably, taking the fight to the ground. Once on the ground, the fight can be ended by applying joint-locks and choke holds to defeat the opponent. At Flashback Martial Arts, we train for both self-defense and sport tournaments.

The majority of our classes are taught by 1st Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt William Krieg. He’s been training jiu-jitsu since 1997 and actively teaching since starting a grappling club in 2000. Classes range from students with no previous experience through those who’ve trained for years in various grappling arts or military combatives. A typical class will work students through conditioning, drilling technique and sparring (referred to as “rolling”).
